Do you understand?
This is Don's favorite question of his students. When he was young, he learned how to say this in Italian: capisce? He used that often. Then when he had students that could speak different languages, he added this question to his repertoire, in their language. Now when he uses a different language, his students know what he means! Here are some of these (the spellings are phonetic):
Italian: Capisce?
Chinese: Nay deong ma?
Russian: Tepawya?
pahewmaesh?
Spanish: Comprendes?
Farsi: Me fat me?
Urdu: Samje?
Hindi: Samajagai?
Japanese: Wakata?
Telegu: Neeku ardamy inthe?
German: Hast du verstanden?
French: Compra tu?
Vietnamese: Hay u com?
Bengali: Tumi basta parsha?
Tamil: Nika purenja da?
Latin: Opero vos intellectum?
Albanian E kupton?
Somali makastay?
Arabic fahimta?
